Since I have been back in my home country Mauritius, I have spent most of my time winging in the waves.
After my 14 days in quarantine and back with my family and friends, it was time to get a little freestyle break. When I learnt that Manawa was a world-class wave for winging, I immediately went out there with my Naish foil to try it out. Manawa is situated at the south-west tip of the island and is one of Le Morne’s most massive wave spot.
During my first session on Manawa, I had so much fun on the water that I ended up staying in the south for a week straight, to go back there and wing it every day. Making my best to master this style. It was a bit tiring at first, but I had a good time, especially when you have the best view of Mauritius’s most eye-catching mountain, Le Morne Brabant.
The wing foil community in Mauritius is fantastic. Everyone is so passionate about it, and sharing the stoke with them is a real privilege. Actually, it is too bad that the world cannot experience that spot for winging just yet. I wish more riders and winging enthusiasts could try out this massive flat-water #playground. You better get ready because once the borders are opened – it’s going to be shred’oclock !
