How I started?
It was in 2010. I was 10 years old and we were having lunch at a friends house with my parents. Shortly after the the lunch the friend of my sister went to the beach to kitesurf. Coming from a family that loves the ocean and having a firm connection to sailing, I was involved in nautical activities since I was young. My grandfather sailed around the world when he was young.
Kitesurfing fascinated me so much. Just watching my sisters friend I knew and felt that I had to try it. I asked my dad if I could try it out… The following weekend I was having my first lesson!
What is driving me?
At the beginning, I had no ambitions to reach the level I am now. It was a sport that quickly became a passion. It was a way to be outside, having fun with all my friends in Mauritius at the well known local beach Anse La Raie. As the passion grew bigger and bigger, we would start jumping, doing downwinders and kite trips. It was a few years later, in 2014, that we saw a video of the PKRA Junior World Championship, and we thought “ Why shouldn’t we try it?“
In 2014, together with my friends and family, we went to Costa Brava to compare our level with the worlds best. There we realised that we were not that far behind the level of the juniors world best, so we pushed even harder and trained whenever it was windy.
It is the passion that keeps me going for every session. The feeling is always different and not one trick feels like the other.
How I keep going?
None of this would be possible without the support of all the people around me.
I would like to thank my family and friends, my sponsors Naish Kiteboarding, Red Bull and PLAY mourouk, Alberto Rondina and Nico Kux, who helped me get my first kite, my dad, who always opens up new opportunities.
